The Dakota District is an exciting arm of The Wesleyan Church! We are composed of 56 churches, serving North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Alaska and Utah.

We are made up of church congregations that are quite varied.... in style, in size, and in setting. Churches range all the way from a very small rural church, to a church of over 4,000 in a growing city. Dakota District places a high value on a "team spirit" that embraces us all - no matter the size or location of the church! Every church matters!

We are passionate about connecting people with Christ - and about helping them grow to be like Him!

And, because planting new churches is a very effective way to accomplish this, we are totally passionate about birthing new churches.

We welcome you to visit us any time! But, since a trip to our area may not be possible, we hope that this web site will provide for you a small glimpse into what is happening among our Dakota District family!

In Loving Memory of Elmore Blain

Whether we knew him by Rev. Blain, Pastor Mo, or "Handy-Man-Mo"... all of Dakota District will miss Rev. Elmore Blain! Following his brief battle with ALS (Lou Gehring's Disease) Elmore came out the victor - winning the crown of life on Thursday, February 16th! Many Dakota district pastors and a host of friends joined together with Mo's family at First Wesleyan Church in Rapid City on Sunday evening and Monday morning (Feb. 19th & 20th), to praise God and celebrate a life well-lived!

What's Happening Around the District

March 27th - From Venture Church, Bozeman, MT - Pastor Charley Carpenter
What a weekend it was a Venture! I have learned a lot as we have gone through this process of planting a church and trying to reach people the way Jesus did. If we don't empower people to be a part of the ministry, they will sit in the stands and watch. However, if we give them opportunities to be a part of it, they will grab hold of it and live it out in their lives. This weekend was a huge step in that direction for us as a body. -- We had Baptism Celebration, where each of the three guys who had signed up, were going to be baptized by the person who has made the greatest spiritual impact on their lives, not me. John was baptized by his wife Corina; Ryan was baptized by Andy; and then Ryan turned around and baptized by Ro! That was powerful! But we were not done yet! We opened it up for others to be baptized as well- Four others came forward and got in the pool with all their clothes on! Brent and Jess have been Christians for a while, but had never been baptized. Brent baptized Jess; Jess turned right around and baptized Brent. Then, Ben, a guy I've been mentoring, got in the pool and was baptized by his "significant" girlfriend, Sarah. - Then Joshua, who is deaf, got in and wanted to ask Jesus into his heart - so we walked him through that process with a translator, and then he was baptized on the spot! -- I can't begin to explain the presence of God in the room! It was one of the most powerful experiences I have ever been a part of! ... God is alive and well and still on the throne!
